The Fishtail Bun

claire danes fishtail bun braid hairstyle summer spring hair tutorial

How cute is this hairstyle? I mean the makeup and glowing skin aren't anything to sniff at either, but let's focus people! I love throwing my hair into a braided style when I want to look like I'm trying without actually trying. So of course, I am chomping at the bit to try out this fishtail bun. Does it look hard? Yes. Is it sad that I'm in my 30's and still haven't mastered this one braid technique? Probably. (Stop laughing; it's hard!) But thanks to the folks at Allure.com you can (and I) can be well on our way to rocking a fabulous go-to hairstyle for the warm months ahead. Check out the tutorial video, below.

Looking "Big Day" Beautiful

Savvy brides-to-be recognize that weddings require managing countless details. Bridal beauty isn't just an afterthought; it takes time and practice. Looking sensational on your wedding day isn’t just a matter of finding a great dress and getting a gorgeous updo. It comes from mapping out a beauty routine that not only makes you look the best you can, but makes you feel relaxed and confident as well.

Beauty experts caution that wedding day perfection won't happen without work, which means that you should begin your planning long before you walk down the aisle. Have those deep conditioning treatments, facials, manicures and trial hair sessions done months before your big day. Brides who plan new beauty regimens along with their ceremonies and receptions can find themselves prepared for not only a beautiful wedding day, but for a healthier way of life that lasts long after the honeymoon.

To begin, envision yourself on the big day. What do you see? Something dramatic? Glamorous? Minimal? It’s always helpful to be able to intelligently share style ideas with your beauty professionals.

Celeb-packed funeral held for Oscar de la Renta

Celeb-packed funeral held for Oscar de la Renta

Ap Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP), — From Hillary Rodham Clinton to Hugh Jackman to Mikhail Baryshnikov, luminaries of the fashion, entertainment and media worlds packed a Manhattan church on Monday for the private funeral of legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta.

De la Renta died on Oct. 20 at his Connecticut home at the age of 82, following a battle with cancer.

The Dominican-born designer, famous for glamorous garments that combined intricate workmanship with luxurious materials, was as admired on Hollywood red carpets as he was at socialites' soirees. Most recently, Amal Alamuddin wore a de la Renta-designed dress when she married George Clooney at a lavish wedding in Venice.

Monday's service lasted about one hour.

Emma Stone's Met Gala Look

Yes, I know the Met Gala is over and we didn't cover the fashion. But that's because we love our readers too much to bombard you with images of emaciated celebs and hold them up as the standard for beauty. You know what is beautiful; taking proper care of your body and eating 3 square meals a day. But, I digress...I just had to post this photo of Emma Stone in her Met Gala ensemble. Look at it; it's GORGEOUS! I love pink, who doesn't?! Everything about it works. I know I will be trying to emulate this look all season. The dewy complexion, courtesy of a natural pink gloss, and the perfect balance of highlighter and bronzer—the unkempt side-swept twisted ponytail...It's the perfect hair and makeup job to set off the colorblock outfit.

The faux wrap-skirt construction and high-waist fit are very figure flattering, and the crop top is just short enough to show a sliver of skin, which works well with the "higher" neckline cut. The whole outfit gives the illusion of showing skin without actually showing too much of anything. It's fresh, fun, a great way to wear color and beat the heat while looking polished and pulled together. I'm totally in love! Kudos to Emma Stone's stylist.

How To Wear Neon Pink Lipstick

I stumbled across this tutorial in my effort to figure out what my look is going to be for spring/summer. I love a bold lip and a flawless skin look without looking like I have a million tons of makeup, so I gave this look a try. While I amended the application to achieve this flawless springtime look in under 5 minutes and less product, I have to say that it turned out beautifully.

From my makeup bag I applied Loreal BB Cream in Deep and layered a "streak" of Bobbi Brown Concealer over acne scar areas. I then stippled my concealer and was left with dewy flawless coverage. I applied my Sally Hansen Cream Blush to the apples of my cheeks with my ring finger and blended up my cheek bones for a natural glow. I mixed a deep metallic shadow with a neutral for just a hint of color on my lids, making sure to get the inner corner of my eyes so they look bright and awake. I lightly lined my top lid with a black kohl pencil (Rimmel or MAC are my faves), and finished my eyes with 2 coats of YSL BabyDoll Mascara. I then lined my lips with my fabulous YSL pencil that literally goes with every lipstick I own (to keep my color from bleeding), and finally the piece de resistance...I heavy-handedly add my neon pink lipstick, and finish it with my elf lip gloss stick (it blends my lipstick into my liner perfectly and gives me all day wear).

Go ahead and give this look a go! If you are scared of picking the wrong shade, I suggest visiting your local Sephora. With such a wide array of brands and their knowledgeable staff, you're sure to get the perfect pink for your complexion.
