Au naturale: 5 ways to use coconut oil

extra virgin coconut oil diy natural beauty routine trend

Is it just me, or is everyone obsessed with treating their body like a temple? There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact, as I'm sure you all know, Christ calls us to do so and tells us that our body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. Now keeping that in mind, I can't fault my husband for deciding he doesn't want to wear deodorant anymore because, "It has a bunch of chemicals that I'm putting on my skin which permeate it and get into my body and act as toxins..."

*sighs and reminds self that my husband is a gift from God*

Anywho, I can't be kickin' it till I die with a man who doesn't wear deodorant, so I went searching for natural forms that actually work and found one that uses coconut oil. As a matter of fact I found quite a few great uses for coconut oil and thought I would share. Put this multi-purpose oil to good use!

Natural Deodorant

Mix equal parts coconut oil with baking soda (to help eliminate odor), add 2/3 part arrowroot, then finish with a few drops of your favorite essential oils for desired fragrance. Apply to your underarms as needed.

Eye Makeup Remover

To rid of stubborn mascara, rub a bit of coconut oil over closed lids and gently wipe clean with a cotton round.

Body Scrub

Use coconut oil as the base of a sweet-smelling (and invigorating) body scrub.

Shaving Cream

Simply swap out your standard shaving cream for a helping of oil instead—it does the trick just as well as (if not better than) the former.

Makeup Brush Cleaner

Heat up the oil in the microwave, then dip your brushes into the warm liquid. Dab them on a washcloth or paper towel to clean off the product residue, then rinse with water.
